Filters that have the capacity to accept the flow rate of the oil pump, with filtering material that is appropriately catching the particles that may be expected to need to be trapped, are "big enough". Doesn't matter if the engine is a 2.5 L 4-cylinder or a 3.3 L 6 cylinder.
Mazda. CX-7. 2012. The Mazda CX7 takeS6 quarts of oil. Your oil needs to be changed eventually. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles is a good rule of thumb. If You don't change it, there will be problems with the engine. Having high quality oil is essential for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into issues with this fluid at some point.
The 2003-2005 models have the pre-cat issues and are less reliable overall. But, there are still plenty of people with higher mileage 6's with 3.0 and no issues. But, to be safe I believe it was 2006 they changed the exhaust design, and pre-cats are no longer an issue for 2006+ models. The duratec 3.0 is a great engine.
